Syringe possession
A Dunkirk man and a Portland man pleaded guilty to syringe possession recently in Jay Superior Court
Brian S. Stiles, 28, 920 W. High St., Dunkirk, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 30 days suspended and given 14 days credit for seven days already served. He was assessed court costs of $183 and placed on formal probation for 11 months. As a part of a plea agreement, an additional charge of possession of paraphernalia was dismissed.
Eric L. Phillips, 38, 943 W. High St., Portland, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 180 days suspended and given 180 days credit for 90 days already served. He was assessed $183 in court costs, ordered to pay for and attend the “Thinking for Good” program and placed on formal probation for six months.
Perjury
A Portland man pleaded guilty to perjury recently in Jay Superior Court.
Karlos A. Schlichter, 24, 1366 Meadow Lane, pleaded guilty to perjury, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail, with all but 90 days suspended, and given 90 days credit for 45 days already served. He was fined $1, assessed $183 in court costs and placed on formal probation for 15 months.
Theft
A Portland woman was sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court after pleading guilty to a felony theft charge.
Tammy J. Fisher, 50, 609 N. Pleasant St., pleaded guilty to theft, enhanced to a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 120 days suspended and given eight days credit for four days already served. She was fined $100, assessed $183 in court costs and placed on formal probation for eight months.
