Get involved with the crime watch
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The inaugural Dunkirk Neighborhood Crime Watch Chili Cook Off was held Wednesday at West Jay Community Center with 10 contestants entering.
This event, held to help raise crime watch awareness and membership invited residents to come sample the chilis and vote for their favorite. There were prices for first-, second- and third-place chili. First place was taken by Sandy Rogers (West Jay Optimist), second by Christy Curts and third by Kenzie Grayson (Delta Theta Tau).
Community events such as this are simply not possible without participation of the contestants and sponsors. The Dunkirk Neighborhood Crime Watch group would like to extend a big thank you to West Jay Community Center and its board, Dunkirk Glass Days Committee, Advance Auto Parts of Dunkirk, CVS/Pharmacy of Dunkirk, Family Dollar of Dunkirk, Miller’s Dunkirk Pantry (Marathon station) and Pizza King of Dunkirk for each of their generous contributions and participation.
Every Dunkirk resident is invited to become involved with Dunkirk Neighborhood Crime Watch. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Dunkirk city building.
The members of the neighborhood crime watch group encourage each resident to become involved in an effort to make our city a safer place to grow and live.
Respectfully,
Dane Mumbower
Dunkirk Police Chief
