Fined and sentenced
Brandon M. Beltz, 35, 204 E. Main St., Portland, pleaded guilty to driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor — Sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 10 day suspended and given 10 days credit for five days already served. He was assessed $183.50 in court costs and placed on formal probation for 12 months.
Austin M. Smail, 22, 6554 Beechwood Lane, Hillsboro, Ohio, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor — Sentenced to 60 days in Jay County Jail with all but 16 days suspended and given 16 days credit for eight days already served.
He was assessed $183.50 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug and alcohol countermeasures fee, ordered to pay a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse fee and placed on formal probation for 12 months.
As a part of a plea agreement, additional charges of operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more and leaving the scene of an accident were dismissed.
Justin S. Slick, 32, 710 E. High St., Portland, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor — Sentenced to 180 days in Jay County Jail, with all but two days suspended and given two days credit for one day already served. Fined $100, assessed $183 in court costs and placed on formal probation for six months.
As a part of a plea agreement, additional charges of battery with moderate bodily injury and criminal trespass were dismissed.
Johnny M. Halsey, 63, 80 N. Sycamore St. P.O. Box 266, Redkey, pleaded guilty to theft, a Class A misdemeanor — Sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 18 days suspended and given 18 days credit for nine days already served. He was assessed court costs of $183, ordered to attend and pay $150 for “Moral Recognition Therapy” and placed on formal probation for 11 months.
