Collin Affolder has been one of the best hitters on the team.

He continued his hitting tear as the Pilots closed out the regular season.

Affolder, a 2014 South Adams High School graduate, tallied four hits in the final three games of the regular season for the Bethel College baseball team.

The junior, who is third on the team with a .345 batting average, had one hit and scored a run in a 4-3 loss to the Marian Knights in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. He followed with a pair of singles and another run in a 2-1 loss to the Knights.

He then closed the regular season with a single and a run as the Pilots (20-20, 10-17 Crossroads League) defeated Marian 5-3.

Affolder has hit safely in each of the last eight games, one shy of his career best after beginning the season with a nine-game hitting streak. The former Starfire is second on the team with 29 runs, and nine doubles. His 26 RBIs is fourth on the team.

Bethel is the No. 8 seed in the Crossroads League tournament and meets top-seeded and No. 24 Huntington on Friday.

The sophomore had a hit and plated a run in a 3-2 loss in 11 innings on Friday in the second game of a doubleheader against Carlow. She then scored one of her team’s two runs as the Bearcats defeated Park Point 2-0 on Saturday in the first game of a twin bill.

Dunn finished the regular season with a .210 batting average with 10 runs and a pair of RBIs.

The Bearcats (14-22, 8-10 River States Conference) will be the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament and meet No. 2 seed Midway on Friday.

The RedHawks will compete in the Billy Hayes Invitational at Indiana University on Friday before the Mid-American Conference Championships begin May 11.

Got back in the win column as he helped the Edison State Community College baseball team snap a three-game losing streak on Friday.

Hobbs, who had suffered three consecutive losses, scattered four hits over six innings. He allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out five as the Chargers defeated Mercyhurst North East, 8-3, in the first game of a doubleheader.

With the win, Hobbs moves to 3-3 on the season. The Chargers are 15-20 (4-12 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference).

His teammates tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and took the lead with two runs in the eighth.
