Neglect
A Muncie woman was sentenced recently after pleading guilty to neglect in Jay Superior Court.
Myriah R. East, 23, 23 River Drive, Muncie, pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail, with all but 90 days suspended and given two days credit for one day already served. She will serve the remaining 88 days of her sentence on electronically monitored home detention.
East was assessed $183 in court costs and placed on formal probation for 15 months. As a part of a plea agreement, additional charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a passenger less than 18 years of age and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more were dismissed.
