Thank you for life-saving response
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Jay County Hospital acknowledged National Emergency Medical Services Week May 21 through 27. All of Jay County emergency departments, agency, fire departments and rescue services were acknowledged.
As Jay County residents living on the Jay/Randolph county line west of Indiana 1, we will forever be grateful to the quick response to our 911 call in January 2013.
The responders (Jason White, Ray Wheat and Randy Young) were already on their way to Pennville, on county road 500 South nearing Indiana 1, when our 911 call redirected them to our residence because of a possible heart attack.
Even though we preferred Jay County Hospital and Dr. Mark Haggenjos for this emergency, the nearest facility to cover our cardiac emergency was IU Ball Memorial Hospital. En route to Muncie, not even a mile from home, the emergency escalated when husband Joel coded. To my relief as I followed in the car, quick resuscitation efforts prevailed.
The responders had already been in contact with Ball, and upon arrival at the ER everything was in motion for immediate care. From the onset of this emergency (cutting firewood in the woods with our grandson) to Joel’s surgery and being admitted to a room was only three hours.
Our faith in God gives Him the glory for the outcome.
The dedication and caring of the emergency responders were His tools to bring this miracle to fruition.
We will forever be thankful to emergency responders Jason White, Ray Wheat and Randy Young.
Sincerely,
Joel and Sharon Taylor
