BERNE — Aidan Wanner and Trey Schoch provided all the offense the Starfires needed.
The pair outscored the Eagles by themselves on Tuesday, leading the South Adams Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team to a 36-19 victory over West Jay.
The SAMS seventh grade team also won, 39-28.
Wanner led all players with 11 points, and Schoch was one point behind with 10. Wanner also had seven rebounds, and Schoch grabbed four. Leo Palomo contributed six points, and Parker Bryan chipped in four points for South Adams (2-0, 1-0 Allen County Athletic Conference).
Quinn Faulkner was the leading scorer for West Jay (1-1, 0-1 ACAC) with six points. Camdin Harrison followed with five points while Trenton Alexander and Kess McBride had four points apiece.
Kyle Minger poured in 16 points to lead the SAMS seventh grade team (2-0, 1-0 ACAC). Josh Amstutz tallied eight points and Brady Beall scored five points.
Spencer Caldwell scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds for the WJMS seventh graders (1-1, 0-1 ACAC). Skyler Bee contributed nine points and seven rebounds.
EJ beats Jets
MONROE — The East Jay seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams earned victories against the host Adams Central Jets on Tuesday.
The seventh grade squad had a lopsided 41-7 victory, while the eighth gradres won 35-21.
Renna Schwieterman led the way for the seventh graders (2-0, 1-0 Allen County Athletic Conference), scoring a game-high 16 points. Lydia Keihn contributed eight points and Kylee Cross had seven points. Eden Abshire and Olivia Waters both tallied four points.
Heaven Hambrock and Madison Dirksen scored 10 and nine points respectively for the eighth grade Chiefs (1-1, 1-0 ACAC). Abby Elzey and Holly Hemmelgarn notched four points apiece, while Rachel Muhlenkamp and Andrea Jutte both chipped in three points.

Carter Link paced the seventh graders (1-1, 1-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) with nine points while Dusty Pearson and Josh Dowlen had eight points each. Blake Bogenschutz followed with six points and Pete Muhlenkamp finished with five points.
Ethan Dirksen and Gavin Muhlenkamp scored 14 and 12 points respectively to lead the eighth grade squad (2-0, 1-0 ACAC). Gavin Myers totaled six points as Adrek Pogue and Kyle Sanders both had three points.
