Lucas proposal is way off base
To the editor:
It’s 4:17 a.m., and the first news I hear this morning is that some kook from Northern California used four people for target practice.
In the next 12 minutes, two other similar occasions are aired.
On our state scene here in Indiana, some kook from Seymour, politico Jim Lucas, is trying to convince Hoosiers that it’s too inconvenient to obtain a license to carry a firearm.
Meeting opposition from the press to this outlandish proposal, Mr. Lucas now wants journalists to be licensed.
I have a proposal of my own.
I would like to require all politicians be licensed.
If our state police pursued political wannabes’ qualifications with the gusto they do for a license to carry, Mr. Lucas could go back to shilling for the NRA or selling bittersweets, whichever one he’s most qualified for.
