Three hurt
Three people complained of pain after three separate traffic accidents Tuesday in Jay County.
Michaela M. Long, 23, Portland, complained of pain in the chest after her airbag deployed following an 8:40 a.m. collision at U.S. 27 and county road 300 North.
Long told Jay County police she was northbound on U.S. 27 when she failed to see a van driven by Aaron K. Yaeger, 42, Mount Vernon, Ohio, slowing to make a right turn onto county road 300 North.
Her 2009 Honda struck the rear of the van, resulting in combined damage estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
About 7:20 a.m., a 2001 GMC pick-up truck driven by Christopher J. Hudson, 24, rural Portland, struck an Indiana Michigan Power utility pole on Mount Pleasant Road south of county road 550 South. Hudson, who reported pain to his hip and upper leg, told Jay County police he was heading southwest when he fell asleep at the wheel. His truck left the east side of the road, went into a ditch and struck the pole. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
A passenger complained of chest pain after a two-car accident about 3:45 p.m. at Main and Commerce streets in Portland.
Telista A. Hodge, 60, Dunkirk, told Portland police she was northbound on Commerce Street in her 2004 Chrysler Pacifica and had stopped at the intersection. She then proceeded north, colliding with a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by Aaron L. Cadwallader, 44, Portland, which was eastbound on Main.
Bessie Perez, 78, Dunkirk, a passenger in the Hodge vehicle complained of chest pain but declined treatment and later told police she was feeling better.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Area residents were recently fined in Celina (Ohio) Municipal Court.
Troy M. Grieshop, 31, 724 St. Joe Road, Fort Recovery, speeding, $38.50; Vaughn D. Noggler, 58, 207 Coldwell St., Fort Recovery, failure to wear a seatbelt and an amended charge of physical control, fined $1,000 and assessed court costs; Kraig R. Wendel, 29, 704 Blue Jacket Drive, physical control of a vehicle, fined $1,000 and assessed court costs.
A Geneva woman was sentenced in Adams County Superior Court.
Kelsie R. Bishop, Geneva, was found guilty of compulsory school attendance violation, a Class B misdemeanor. She was sentenced to six months in jail, all suspended, and will serve six months probation.
