The Starfire seventh graders are tournament champions.
South Adams Middle School’s seventh grade volleyball team went 4-0 Saturday to win the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament championship at Jay County High School.
East Jay and West Jay both went 2-2 on the day to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
Woodlan won the eighth grade tournament title with a 4-0 record. East Jay (3-1) was second, South Adams (3-1) was third and West Jay (1-3) finished seventh.
Laci McGinnis had nine kills to lead the East Jay seventh graders, which defeated Bluffton (25-24, 25-16) and Heritage (25-16, 24-25, 15-7) before suffering losses to Woodlan (25-18, 25-14) and Adams Central (17-25, 25-24, 15-11).
Lauren Brewster and Madison Brunswick each had six kills for the EJMS seventh graders. Brewster had 11 service points, nine digs and nine aces. Gracie Barnett and Kelsey Frantz both recorded 10 aces.
East Jay eighth grade, West Jay and South Adams stats were not provided.
The South Adams seventh graders also claimed the regular season ACAC championship by going a perfect 7-0 throughout the year. East Jay and West Jay were both 4-3 on the season. East Jay’s eighth grade squad was 7-0 in winning the ACAC title, as South Adams (6-1) was second and West Jay (1-6) finished seventh.
