Jay hosts Heritage on Friday

Last week vs. Arlington: Jay County had a potential game-winning drive stall out at the Arlington 29-yard line in a 20-18 homecoming loss to the Golden Knights. Jay County had a plus-four turnover margin but couldn’t capitalize. Senior Cole Stigleman had 147 rushing yards while Michael Schlechty had three rushing TDs.

Season leaders: Passing — Holton Hill – 62-of-110 passing for 1,066 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. Rushing — Michael Schlechty -- 107 carries for 564 yards and 13 touchdowns. Receiving — Cole Stigleman – 12 catches for 245 yards with two touchdowns. Defense — Ethan Theurer – 91 tackles, six tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Last week at Southern Wells: Heritage scored twice in the fourth quarter, including returning a fumble for a score, in a 27-18 win over Southern Wells. Parker Tracey threw for 171 yards and two TDs, while Hunter Bradtmueller ran for 83 yards and a score. Travis Gardner totaled 70 yards on two catches, both were touchdowns.

Season leaders: Passing — Parker Tracey – 58-of-129 passing for 676 yards six touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rushing — Hunter Bradtmueller – 122 carries for 601 yards and six touchdowns. Receiving — Travis Gardner – 16 catches for 331 yards and four touchdowns.and Deavers – one sack each.



Last season: Cole Stigleman rushed for 144 yards and scored four times as Jay County defeated Heritage 28-14 in Monroeville on the host Patriots’ senior night. Jay County led 20-0 at halftime before giving up seven points in each of the third and fourth quarters. It was the first time Jay County defeated Heritage on the road in four tries.

Game notes: This is the eighth meeting all time between Jay County and Heritage, with the latter holding a 5-2 advantage in the series. Jay County is 1-2 in Portland, with the lone home win a 32-27 triumph in 2013.
