Kylie Osborne chose not to play volleyball during her freshman year of college.

After a year away, she’s made up for lost time.

Osborne, a 2016 Jay County High School graduate, made her collegiate debut for the Anderson University volleyball team and proceeded to lead the team offensively on multiple occasions.

The sophomore began her career with four kills and a team-high eight digs Friday in a 3-0 loss to Greenville in the Illinois College Tournament. She followed that up with 10 kills and one ace to go with her 14 digs as the Ravens beat Trine 3-1 later in the day.

She had her breakout performances Saturday, as she racked up 17 kills and 21 digs with a pair of aces in a 3-1 loss to Blackburn. She then had a career-high 18 kills and added 13 digs as Anderson swept MacMurray College 3-0 later the same day.

Osborne had two digs, one kill and one ace in a 3-0 loss to Goshen on Tuesday.

Through five matches, Osborne leads the Ravens (2-3) with 52 kills and is second on the team with 58 digs.



Cassidy Rammel

Fort Rec. – 2015

Played a huge role as the University of Saint Francis volleyball team went 1-3 during the Hampton Inn Volleyball Classic in Columbia, Missouri.

She had six kills, four digs and an assist in a 3-0 loss to host Columbia College on Friday before totaling 11 kills, 15 digs and two aces in a 3-1 win over Friends University.

On Saturday, she totaled 14 kills and five digs in a 3-1 defeat to Park University, then followed it up with 10 kills and five digs in a 3-1 loss to Missouri Baptist University.

Rammel then totaled nine kills, two aces and four digs as the Cougars (1-10, 0-1 Crossroads League) lost to No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan 3-1 on Wednesday



Kendra Siefring

Fort Rec. – 2016

Posted a career-high kill total for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team on Wednesday in a 3-1 loss to Indiana Wesleyan.

She shared the team high of 13 kills for a new career best. She also helped on eight blocks and had six digs.

Siefring totaled 11 kills, one ace and a dig on Friday in a loss to Friends University, one match after totaling five kills, one ace and a dig against Columbia College earlier in the day.

She tallied 10 kills, a pair of blocks and two digs in a loss to Park University, and added six kills and a dig against Missouri Baptist.



Ava Kunkler

Jay County – 2016

Had a career-high 13 kills on Wednesday for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team as it lost to Indiana Wesleyan, 3-1.

She also had one block and a dig as she shared the team-lead in kills.

Kunkler had six kills and one dig on Friday in a loss to Friends University, then followed it up with 14 kills, three digs and one block in losses to Park University and Missouri Baptist on Saturday.



Abby Barcus

Jay County – 2017

Slammed a career-high 17 kills on Tuesday in helping the Wright State University volleyball team to a 3-2 win at IPFW.

The freshman also had six digs and helped on two blocks in the win over the Mastodons.

Barcus tallied 16 total kills and five digs as the Raiders lost to Tulsa 3-1 and University of Missouri-Kansas City 3-1 on Saturday.

She also had 10 kills and one block in a loss to SIU-Edwardsville on Friday.



Kirsten Jutte

Fort Rec. – 2016

Posted double-digit assist totals for the Capital University volleyball team.

The sophomore had 11 assists on Wednesday in a 3-1 win over Ohio University-Chillicothe. She also had one kill and two digs.

Jutte had a season-best 18 assists with one kill in a 3-0 loss to North Park on Saturday. She also had two and four assists respectively as the Crusaders (2-3) beat St. Mary’s 3-1 and lost to Otterbein 3-0 on Friday.



Eric Hemmelgarn

Jay County – 2014

Began his redshirt senior campaign with a couple tackles on Saturday as the top-ranked and defending NAIA national champion University of Saint Francis football team defeated Jamestown 55-7.

Hemmelgarn had one solo tackle and assisted on another for the Cougars (1-0). He helped Marcus Stepp for a stop during the first quarter, and stopped Jimmy Hatch for no gain in the second.

Drew LeFever

South Adams – 2016

Made his collegiate debut for the Taylor University football team on Saturday in a 28-21 victory over Malone University.

The running back had three carries for one yard as the Trojans (1-0) opened their season with a victory.



Derek Wanner

South Adams – 2015

Also played for the Taylor University football team in its season-opening win Saturday.

The junior defensive back had one tackle on the game’s opening drive.



Elle Sutter

Fort Recovery – 2014

Ran for the Ohio Northern University cross country team as it finished first in the Back to the Nature Preserve Open at Tiffin Ohio.

Sutter was 55th overall and 19th on her team in 22 minutes, 15.1 seconds. The Polar Bears totaled 61 points to win the 10-team meet. Findlay was second with 72 points and Ohio Christian was third with 86.



Gabbie Mann

Jay County – 2015

Played for the IPFW women’s soccer team in a pair of losses.

The sophomore logged eight minutes in a 1-0 loss to Youngstown State on Friday, then registered 39 minutes on the pitch in a 1-0 defeat at home to Western Michigan on Sunday.

Mann did not record a shot in either contest.
