Felony arrests
Residential entry
Gregory D. Sutton, 47, 931 W. Votaw St., Portland, was arrested and charged with residential entry, a Level 6 felony, after he was found in an upstairs room at 2967 W. 200 South.
According to information filed in the case, Chris Lutes came to his home at 2967 W. 200 South shortly after noon Sept. 5. Lutes told Jay County Sheriff’s Office that he went into the house and heard a whistling sound coming from his office. Then he heard someone talking, and realized someone was inside his house. Lutes left the home and called 911.
When Sheriff Dwane Ford and deputies arrived, they began to search the house for the intruder.
“As we started for the upstairs we heard a subject at the top of the stairs and I observed the barrel of a firearm,” wrote Ford. Police ordered the intruder, Gregory Sutton, to drop the firearm. Sutton complied, and he was then arrested and booked at 1:57 p.m. Sept. 5 into Jay County Jail and was released after posting $3,000 bond.
Possession
A Portland woman and a Muncie man were arrested Saturday for drug possession.
Christina E. Bishop, 29, 1237 N. U.S. 27, Lot 35, Portland, was arrested for possession of cocaine, narcotics or methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
She was booked into Jay County Jail at 12:33 a.m. and is being held there with a $3,000 bond.
Sean P. Taflinger, 43, 1121 W. First St., Muncie, was arrested for possession of controlled substance, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was booked at 1 p.m. into Jay County Jail and is being held there on a $4,000 bond.
Resisting
James D. Hampshire, 39, 6453 E. 400 North, Union City, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement, both Level 6 felonies, as well as a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
He was booked at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 5 into Jay County Jail and was held there without bond.
