INDIANAPOLIS — The Patriot girls open the three-class soccer era with a new opponent.
The boys’ squad will meet a familiar foe.
In the IHSAA soccer sectional tournament pairings Sunday, the three-time Allen County Athletic Conference champion Jay County High School girls soccer team drew an opening-round game in Class 2A play against Hamilton Heights. The boys drew the Yorktown Tigers.
South Adams begins Class A play against Canterbury (boys) and Manchester (girls).
The Patriot girls (8-3) open Sectional 24 play at 5 p.m. Oct. 3 at Yorktown against the Hamilton Heights Huskies (7-6-2). The winner advances to the second semifinal against host Yorktown (6-5-1) at 7 p.m. Oct. 5. The first semifinal pits the Delta Eagles (1-9-1) against the New Castle Trojans (6-6-2).
The championship game is slated for 7 p.m. Oct. 7.
Jay County’s boys (3-6-3) play the Yorktown Tigers (5-8) in the third opening-round of the Class 2A Sectional 24 tournament at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at New Castle. The winner advances to the 7 p.m. Oct. 4 semifinal against either the Burris Owls (5-4-4) or Blackford (4-6-3), which play at 5 p.m. Oct. 2.
Eastbrook (9-2-1) received a bye to the 5 p.m. Oct. 4 semifinal, and will meet the winner of the 5 p.m. Oct. 2 opener between the Delta Eagles (5-4-1) and the New Castle Trojans (9-6).
The title game will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 7.
In the Class A Sectional 37 tournament at Canterbury, the South Adams boys meet the host Cavaliers in the semifinal at 7 p.m. Oct. 4. Wabash and Blackhawk Christian play in the 5 p.m. Oct. 2 opener, with the winner advancing to the 5 p.m. Oct. 4 semifinal against Lakewood Park Christian.
The championship is 2 p.m Oct. 7.
