Hits deer
Damage estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 was reported when a Portland woman’s SUV hit a deer about 5:30 a.m. Saturday on county road 400 South near county road 800 west.
Angela S. Evans, 47, told the Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was westbound in her 3008 Ford Edge when the deer ran into the roadway.
Off road
A Dunkirk man’s van was damaged about 7:15 a.m. Saturday when he drove it off the edge of Indiana 67 near county road 400 West.
After leaving the road, the vehicle driven by Ricky L. Bradshaw, 43, went into a ditch and struck a tree. Jay County Sheriff’s Office estimated damage to his 2007 Ford Econoline between $1,000 and $2,500.
Raccoon hit
Less than $1,000 in damage was reported when a rural Portland man’s 2014 Chevrolet Cruze struck a raccoon on Indiana 67 near road 800 South about 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
Brandon M. Cline, 24, was northbound on Indiana 67 when the raccoon ran into the roadway.
Another deer
A car driven by a rural Farmland woman struck a deer about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in Richland Township. The report by the Jay County Sheriff’s Office was made available today.
Sherry L. May, 62, told police she was westbound on county road 350 South, north of Indiana 67, when she hit the deer with her 2015 Ford Taurus.
