Fight
A boy suffered a broken nose after a fight broke out at East Jay Middle School.
Two boys were involved in the fight at the school, 225 E. Water St., Portland. It was reported to Portland Police Department around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
A 13-year-old Portland resident allegedly punched another student in the face 12 times. That student was taken to IU Health Jay, where he was treated for a broken nose.
Fire call
A report of a fire Wednesday in Dunkirk turned out to be an overheated light fixture.
Dunkirk Fire Department and Jay Emergency Medical Service responded to a report of a structure fire at 10:04 p.m. at 215 E. Ohio St. When they arrived, firefighters determined that a ballast in a light fixture had overheated.
Bluffton mishap
More than $1,000 in damage was reported in an accident Saturday in Bluffton involving a Pennville driver.
Jeffrey D. Bunch, 56, Pennville was backing out of a parking space on Market Street near Main Street about 11:45 a.m. when his car collided with a vehicle driven by Brittany D. Isch, 37, rural Bluffton.
Windshield cracked
A Portland resident reported a windshield broken Wednesday morning.
Becky Castillo, 228 S. Western Ave., reported the incident at 10:47 a.m. She said her husband, Ray Castillo, had noticed that his truck’s windshield had a crack in it that morning.
In area courts
These area residents were fined recently in Celina (Ohio) Municipal Court.
Isaac L. Sudhoff, 23, 4179 Ohio 49, Fort Recovery, was fined and assessed $30 for failure to wear a seatbelt.
Kelly J. Cassel, 20, Dunkirk, was fined and assessed $30 for a stop sign violation.
