FORT WAYNE — The Patriots already had a comfortable lead by the fourth inning.

A strong output made it a little more cozy.

The Jay County High School baseball team scored nine runs in the  fourth inning Monday, cruising to a 15-0 victory over the host Wayne Generals in five innings.

Max Moser began the scoring in the fourth inning with a double to plate Cole Stigleman.

Two batters later, Wyatt Geesaman got hit by a pitch with bases loaded. Mitchel Frasher added an RBI single.

A wild pitch made it 10-0 Jay County (4-3) before Payton Heniser hit a sacrifice fly to score Geesaman.

Noah Arbuckle drove in a run with a single, and Ryan Schlechty hit a two-run double and later scored on an error.

The Patriots added one more run in the fifth inning.

Schlechty, Stigleman and Arbuckle all finished with two hits, and Schlechty led the way with four RBIs.

Ethan Myers, Payton Heniser and Mike Stevens also collected singles.

Arbuckle threw all five innings for Jay County, only allowing one hit. He struck out eight and walked two.
