Wehrly sets a career best
MUNCIE — Raquel Wehrly had the best round of her career.
The Bearcats were simply a bit better.
Wehrly, a Jay County High School junior, shot a career-best 53 Thursday but the Patriot girls golf team lost to the host Muncie Central Bearcats 177-220 at Crestview Golf Club.
The defeat dipped the Patriots to 1-4 on the season.
Erika Heitkamp was second on the team with 55, while Sierra Caster and Eden Basford matched at 57 to complete the team score for Jay County.
Mackenzie Parks and Abby Huey also competed but their totals did not factor into the team score. Parks shot 57, and Huey carded a 60.
