Last week at Blackford: Michael Schlechty scored on a 5-yard run with 32 seconds remaining and ran in the ensuing 2-point conversion as Jay County rallied to beat the Bruins, 22-21. Trey Castillo scored the first two touchdowns of his career as he rushed for 68 yards on seven carries. Schlechty added 67 yards on eight rushes.

Season leaders: Passing — Parker Grimes – 4-of-8 for 30 yards. Rushing — Castillo – seven carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Receiving — Gabe Faulkner – two catches for 12 yards. Defense — Ryan Schlechty – 13 tackles.

Last week at Marion: Huntington North had just 88 yards of total offense and turned the ball over three times in a 47-0 loss to the Marion Giants.

Season leaders: Passing — Brett Kaylor – 6-of-19 for 49 yards and one interception. Rushing — Lucas Lindsey – four carries for 16 yards . Receiving — Andrew Smekens – two catches for 23 yards. Defense — Charlie Agnew – 11 tackles.



Last meeting: Huntington North ran the triple option to perfection as it gained 433 rushing yards en route to spoiling Jay County’s homecoming with a 49-14 thrashing of the Patriots on Oct. 3, 2003.



Game notes: This is the 24th meeting all time between Jay County and Huntington North. The Vikings hold a 16-7 edge in the series. JCHS won the first six meetings, but HNHS has taken 16 of the last 17 ... Huntington North has lost 13 consecutive games dating back to the 2016 regular season finale. Its last win was a 27-0 triumph over Norwell ... Damon Kaylor, a 6-foot, 6-inch, 315-pound offensive lineman, has committed to Michigan State.
