Two Portland residents were involved in a vehicle collision Tuesday in the Jay Lodge #87 parking lot.

James R. Bruner, 77, was backing up his 2015 Chevrolet Equinox from a parking spot at the Lodge, 513 N. Meridian St., Portland. He told Portland Police Department he didn’t see Sandra S. Bubp who was driving a 2018 Cadillac XTS behind his car. Bubp, 71, was pulling into the parking lot.

The Cadillac is registered to Larry W. Bubp, Portland.

Damage in the 8:58 a.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Theft

A Jay County High School student reported her cell phone stolen from the girls’ locker room Monday.

Macey Weitzel noticed her iPhone 7 and her student super pass were taken from the locker room while she was at basketball practice after the school day ended. Portland Police Department tracked the phone using an app and discovered it in the home of another Jay County High School student. The phone and pass were returned to Weitzel, and the student will be disciplined by the school.

The phone and pass were altogether valued between $500 and $600.
