Local need is still strong

To the editor:

I want to let you know the needs are again great this year.

All churches and agencies know the never-ending lists and calls from needy and poor families.

Sometimes we may become frustrated and short of patience with those who year after year do not seem to better themselves. However, we must look beyond their faults and see their needs.

Our Lord Jesus never handed out a test or application form to see if they qualified for assistance.

Today one must be careful not to aid and abet those that take advantage of the system.

The Rev. Phill Jellison ministries specializes in searching for working families in need. We got into their homes, verify the needs and, as the Lord supplies, meet their needs. If they are behind on their rent or utilities, we help as much as we can, going directly to the landlord or the utility company.

No cash is ever given to anyone.

We also specialize in buying shoes and boots. We have experience in shoe sales and can make sure the person receives the correct size and especially the width.

Many will never ask for help. If you know a family having a hard time, contact us.

We need canned goods, laundry detergent, ham and turkey, toiletries, personal items and always cash donations.

Whatever we do, it is done for God’s glory and in Jesus’ name.
