Thanks for helping Secret Families

To the editor:

As the Christmas season is upon us, it is important to remember that not everyone in our community is able to experience the joys of the season.

However, on Saturday, Dec. 8, the Jay County community pulled together by shopping, wrapping and delivering Christmas presents to 81 families.

Secret Families Christmas Charity of Jay County would like to thank the Walmart employees and the over 150 volunteers that started shopping at 6:30 in the morning. Countless more volunteers gathered at Jay County High School where they were busy wrapping the gifts that were just purchased.

Thank you to Medler Furniture for transporting all the gifts to the high school.

We would also like to thank the Portland, Bryant, Dunkirk, Pennville and Redkey fire departments for delivering Christmas trees and decorations to any of the families that needed a tree.

Last of all, we would like to thank the eight delivery captains and many volunteers that blessed each of our families we served with delivering not only their bags of gifts but also the family and children’s Bibles.

Having the opportunity to serve 371 individuals from every corner of Jay County would not have been possible without the help and donations of so many people in our community.

Secret Families would like to say thank you to the following:

•the over 100 businesses, churches, organizations and individuals who made monetary donations, to the individuals who supported our fundraisers

•all of the individuals who either donated or purchased items from our auction

•the honor society students for all of their support

•the families that volunteered their time on event day and brought their children along to share in the experience of serving those in need

•those who lifted the Secret Families organization up in their prayers

We especially would like to express our gratitude to Jay Schools, whose staff made it possible to ensure that we received the families that needed us the most.

Thank you once again to everyone for helping us bless so many families and to our 81 families thank you especially for welcoming us into your homes.
