Theft
A Portland woman reported a theft from her grandmother’s home Thursday.
Hillary A. Lessing told Portland Police Department that her grandma, Linda Horine, had medication and $1,500 in cash taken from her residence in the west 700 block of Arch Street.
The investigation is continuing.
Theft
A Portland woman reported a package theft Thursday.
Angel L. Villegas, who lives in the south 100 block of Pierce Street, told Portland Police Department a package had been stolen from her porch sometime on Thursday. Inside was a hoodie valued at $53.
Backing accident
A Portland woman struck a parked car with her vehicle while backing up Thursday morning.
Beverly J. Inman, 72, was backing her 2018 Chevrolet Traverse out of a parking spot at Dollar General, 220 W. Lincoln St., Portland. She told Portland Police Department she didn’t see a parked 2005 Buick LeSabre, which she struck with her vehicle.
The Buick is registered to Douglas G. Cash, Pennville.
Damage in the 11:15 a.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Rear-ended
A Portland woman was involved in a vehicle collision last week in Adams County.
On Dec. 14, Douglas E. Mosier, 59, Camden, South Carolina, was driving 000 Road and stopped at its intersection with Indiana 218. Toni N. Fennig, 62, Portland, was driving behind him. She struck the rear of his vehicle, causing an estimated $2,500 to $5,000 in damage.
The accident occurred at 4:13 p.m.
In area courts
A Geneva woman was sentenced recently in Adams County Superior Court.
Myla G. Affolder was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor. She was sentenced to one year in jail, all suspended, and will serve one year on formal probation. Her driver’s license was suspended for 60 days.
The following area residents were fined in Celina (Ohio) Municipal Court: Michael L. Grieshop, 73, Fort Recovery, speeding, $30; Matthew R. Wenning, 39, Fort Recovery, speeding, $30; Marvin P. Broering, 53, Fort Recovery, improper backing, $23.50; Gregory L. Stewart, 63, Portland, failure to yield, $23.50.
