Leaves scene
A parked SUV sustained between $1,000 and $2,500 in damage when it was struck Friday afternoon on Race Street near Ship Street by a vehicle which left the scene.
The 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer registered to Russell A. Lothridge, Portland, had damage to the area near the left rear tire following the 12:49 p.m. accident.
Strikes deer
A van driven by a Butler, Indiana,woman struck a deer about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on county road 400 North near road 750 West.
Christine Brenneman, 36, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was eastbound when the deer ran into the path of her 2010 Chevrolet Express. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Rolls vehicle
A rural Keystone man rolled his pick-up truck after running off county road 300 North near road 750 West in Jackson Township about 3:40 a.m. Saturday.
Kamerin L. Foster, 23, was westbound when he lost control of his 2005 Silverado and drove into a field. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Intersection wreck
Damage between $2,500 and $5,000 was reported after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Indiana 67 and county road 125 South about 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
Micah S. Boyer, 25, Dunkirk, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was driving northeast on Indiana 67 in his 1999 Dodge Durango when a 2000 Chevrolet Silveradodriven by Jason J. Prescott, 46, Winchester, made a turn across his path onto road 125 South, causing the collision. Prescott was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Backing mishap
Donald M. Roush, 54, rural Bryant, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was backing his 2000 Ford F150 in a driveway at 8202 E. 800 North about 9:20 p.m. Saturday when it struck a parked 2010 GMC Terrain registered to Janae M. Roush, Bryant.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
City accident
Between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage was reported in a truck-SUV accident about 9:50 a.m. Sunday at Votaw and Wayne streets in Portland.
Jonathon M. Gibson, 37, rural Portland, was westbound in his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 and Virginia A. Kelley, 80, Portland, was northbound in her 2004 Jeep Laredo when the two vehicles collided at the four-way stop.
Rear-end collision
A Portland man was involved in a vehicle accident Tuesday at the Wells and Jay county line.
Bonnie M. Isch, 25, Montpelier, was driving north on Indiana 1 and slowed to turn left onto Wells Countyroad 1200 South. William L. Addington, 56, Portland, was driving a 1997 Kenworth semi truck without a trailer north behind Isch. He was distracted and didn’t see her car stop. The semi struck the rear corner of Isch’s 2005 Honda Civic, causing it to spin around and go into a ditch on the east side of the road. The truck also spun.
Isch complained of back pain but refused treatment.
The semi Addington was driving is registered to Crown City Logistics, Portland. Addington was cited for following too closely.
Damage in the 7:56 a.m. collision is estimated to be more than $5,000.
Car damaged
A Jay County man’s car was damaged in an accident in Bluffton this week.
On Tuesday, Karen M. Double, 58, Bluffton, was driving a 2017 Elkmini bus and attempting to turn right into a parking spot at Harrison Plaza. She struck a parked 1997 Jeep Cherokee, which is registered to Chad Zeiler, Bryant.
The bus Double was driving is registered to Bi-County Services, Bluffton.
Damage in the 2:43 p.m. collision is estimated to be more than $5,000.
Drove off road
A Portland woman was involved in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday evening in Wells County.
Stephanie J. Owen, 25, was driving west on Indiana 3 when she fell asleep at the wheel. The 2016 Ford F-150 she was driving went off the side of the road, striking two posts and a mailbox.
The truck is registered to Hy Line North America, Warren.
Damage in the 6:58 p.m. accident is estimated to be more than $1,000.
