PONETO — The Chiefs met a couple Allen County Athletic Conference foes on Tuesday.
Neither put up much of a challenge.
East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team picked up victories on Tuesday against the host Southern Wells Raiders and Heritage Patriots in a double dual meet.
The Chiefs knocked off the Raiders 78-12 before an 88-0 win over Heritage.
Tony Wood (75 pounds), Carter Link (85), Cameron Clark (95), Patrick Hemmelgarn (102), Jayden Maymi (110), Blayne Daniels (117), Kadin Ridenour (132), Cameron Gage (140), Mason Ludy (150) and Conner Specht (160) all won by fall against Southern Wells.Mathais Perod (80), Dyllan Garringer (90) and Joe Hemmelgarn (195) received forfeits.
Patrick Hemmelgarn, Maymi, Tristan Stout (140) and Garringer got pinsagains Heritage. Cody Rowles (80), Nate Paxson (125), Ramon Bravo (175), Joe Hemmelgarn, Link, Clark, Daniels, Ridenour, Ludy and Specht all got forfeits.
Eagles split finale
UNION CITY — The Eagle A team finished off its season on a high note.
The B team wasn’t as fortunate.
West Jay Middle School’ssixth grade boys basketball teams split games in the season finale Monday against the Union City Indians.
The A team won 32-14, while the B squad dropped a 23-9 contest.
Jackson Edwards led the A team with 15 points, and Parker Nichols was second with 13 points. Liam Garringer contributed four points to the win.
In the B game, Logan Orso had five points, and Jason Ayaya tallied four points.
Chief B wins
MUNCIE — East Jay’ssixth grade boys basketball B team picked up a 19-6 victory over the host Northside Titans on Tuesday.
The A squad fell 43-30.
Keegan Hough led the B team with eight points, and Cohen Henry was second with four points. Timo Minnich, Luke Muhlenkampand Ricky Nava finished with two points apiece.
Sam Myers and Justin Dehoff scored 13 and nine points respectively to lead the A team. Abraham Dirksen was third with six points and Brayden Collins had two points.
EJ beats Blackford
East Jay’ssixth grade girls basketball A team stayed perfect with a 28-21 win Tuesday over the Blackford Bruins.
Sophie Saxman led the Chiefs (9-0) with nine points, and Bralee VanSkyock was close behind with eight points. Hannah Laux chipped in four points and Molly Muhlenkamp tallied three points, while Breanna Dirksen and Danielle May both had two points.
