Backing accident
A Portland woman and a Celina woman were involved in a vehicle collision Saturday night.
Halley N. Clark, 23, Portland, was driving her 1999 Oldsmobile 88 west on Indiana 26 and was stopped at its intersection with U.S. 27. She told Portland Police Department a semi truck was turning onto Indiana 26 from U.S. 27 and needed more room, so she began to back her car up. Her car struck Jessica I. Lee’s 2008 Nissan Quest, which was stopped behind her. Lee, 25, Celina, Ohio, said she didn’t have time to react when she saw Clark backing her car up. According to the accident report, Clark’s rear view may have been obstructed by snow on her back window.
Damage in the 6:57 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Right angle collision
Two Portland residents were involved in an automobile accident Saturday afternoon.
Michael J. Lininger, 62, was driving south on Wayne Street and attempted to stop at its intersection with Votaw Street. His 2000 Chevrolet Sonoma slid on ice and went out into the intersection, striking the side of the car Dustin A. Urick was driving west on Votaw Street.
Urick was driving a 2006 Cadillac Escalade registered to Robert Miller, Harriman, Tennessee.
Damage in the 2:26 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Deer struck
A Fort Recovery man struck a deer with the car he was driving Sunday morning.
Jeffrey D. Ranly, 35, was driving southeast on Indiana 26 near its intersection with county road 100 South when a deer ran into the roadway. He was unable to avoid striking it with the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country he was driving, registered to Sarah M. Ranly, same address as driver.
Damage in the 9:15 a.m. accident is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

A Portland man struck a parked car with his truck Saturday morning.
Zane F. Shawver, 55, was backing his 2013 Ford F150 out of a parking spot at the 4-H Pavilion at Jay County Fairgrounds, 806 E. Votaw St., when he struck a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan that was partially parked behind his truck. The Grand Caravan is registered to Eldon T. Miller, Portland.
Damage in the 10:14 a.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
