After losing his final two matches the previous weekend, Sawyer Miller needed a bit of redemption.
He got it on Saturday.
Miller, a 2015 South Adams High School graduate, went 3-0 on Saturday for the Indiana Tech wrestling team as it was 1-2 at the Fire Duals in Lakeland, Florida.
He pinned Keyshawn Laws of Cumberland (Tennessee) in 6 minutes, 32 seconds, as the Warriors won 35-9. Miller, who is the second-ranked NAIA wrestler at 125 pounds, followed that effort by pinning Stephen Moreno of Life University in just 91 seconds of Indiana Tech’s 22-15 defeat.
The senior then scored a 21-4 tech fall over Southeastern’s Zac Branning in 6:38, but the Warriors lost 18-15.
Miller moved to 20-6 on the season.

Shared the scoring lead for the Brescia University women’s basketball team Jan. 11 in an 81-72 win over Oakland City.
She was 4-of-11 from the field, made one 3-pointer and eight of her nine free throws to score 17 points, her fourth-highest total of the season.
The junior also had a team-high seven rebounds to go with her two assists and a steal for the Bearcats (8-11, 4-2 River States Conference), who have a season-long three-game winning streak.

Returned from an extended break to win a single event and finish second in another as the Purdue University women’s swim team kicked off its 2018 schedule with a 188-105 victory Friday against Michigan State.
She had a time of 2 minutes, 17.33 seconds, in the 200 breaststroke to finish first, ahead of teammate Phee Jing En by nearly two seconds.
The junior was also second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.42, and helped the 200 medley relay team to finish runner-up.

Scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the Indiana Tech men’s basketball team recently.
He was 6-of-10 from the field with a pair of free throws to score 14 points during a 74-63 win on Saturday against Siena Heights. He added six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
The senior totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and an assist as the NAIA Division II No. 5 Warriors (18-4, 10-2 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference) lost Wednesday in overtime to Madonna, 95-93.

Helped the University of Findlay men’s basketball team extend its winning streak to 13 games with a 59-50 win over Hillsdale on Saturday.
Kahlig made half of his eight shots from the field on his way to nine points, while also adding two rebounds and a steal.
With the win, the NCAA Division II No. 15 Oilers (17-2) have moved to 11-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

Competed for the University of Findlay women’s swim team Saturday following a break of more than a month as the Oilers lost to Grand Valley State University 150.5-90.5.
Ashton was third in the 100 butterfly in 1 minute, 0.63 seconds, and fifth in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.34. She swam the freestyle leg of the 200 medley B relay as it placed third.
Brette finished fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.7, and handled the backstroke leg of the 200 medley C relay team that was fifth.

Contributed to the Wright State Lake Campus men’s basketball team as it split a pair of games earlier this week.
He had two points with a rebound on Monday in a 75-61 loss to Andrews University. The freshman tallied two points with three rebounds, two assistsand a steal on Tuesday as the Lakers (7-13) defeated Ohio State-Lima 83-66.

Took just two shots from the field for the University of Rio Grande women’s basketball team in its 78-61 win Saturday over West Virginia Tech.
The sophomore had two points and grabbed five rebounds while also notching an assist and a steal for the NAIA Division II No. 4 Red Storm (19-1, 7-0 River States Conference), who have now won 17 consecutive games.

Lost his only contested match for the Manchester University wrestling team in the Spartan Mat Classic it hosted on Saturday.
The 162-pound freshman received a bye in the firstround, but lost by a 20-3 tech fall in 6 minutes, 7 seconds, to eventual tournament champion Andrew Sams of Bellarmine University in the round of 116.
Leonhard is now 6-7 on the year.

Was one of 15 players to score for the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team on Wednesday in an 82-45 win over Spring Arbor.
Will came off the bench to make one of her two shots and split a pair of free throws for three points. She also had an offensive rebound for the Cougars (13-8, 5-4 Crossroads League).

She was 1-of-3 from the field and made three of her four free-throw attempts against the Knights, while also grabbing three rebounds and notching an assist.
The sophomore added four points, four rebounds and an assist on Wednesday as the Foresters (12-8, 5-4 Crossroad League) defeated Goshen 59-38.
He got it on Saturday.
