Jay County Commissioners approved a couple of equipment purchases during a brief meeting Monday afternoon.

Monday’s usual morning meeting was rescheduled because commissioners Barry Hudson and Mike Leonhard were unable to attend.

Commissioners OK’d  Jay Circuit Court Judge Brian Hutchison’s request to purchase a new scanner for the probation office from Cleaver Cabling and Consulting, Martinsville, at a cost of $850.

And they approved county treasurer Paula Miller’s request to purchase a new computer from Progressive Office Products, Portland, at a cost of $3,075.

In both cases, the low price quote was the one accepted.

In other business, commissioners:

•Formally accepted a donation of $800 from local resident John Todd and a $500 donation from Leonhard to help defer the cost of installing flashing stop signals at Boundary Pike and road 300 South.

•Reappointed Judy Affolder, Anita Mills and Robin Alberson to the property tax assessment board of appeals.

•Reappointed Lee Newman to the Portland Board of Zoning Appeals and Dennis Rodgers to the county board of zoning appeals.

•Approved a resolution authorizing a tax certificate sale of properties with delinquent taxes.

•Set their next meeting for 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
