Donald Trump hasn’t made us safe

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Thursday, Jan. 18, was really a great day to be alive.

The temperature was above freezing, the sun was shining brightly, I was resisting the temptation to waste some money having the car washed and I came across a letter to the editor by Ms. Fennig from rural Jay County condemning Jack Ronald’s editorial about The Donald.

I must confess, I haven’t laughed that hard since my old buddy Cloyce Brinkenyoder caught his toe in the front spokes of his ’68 Norton in an Enduro at Matthews in 1971.

Ms. Fennig states she believes Trump is rebuilding America just as he promised to do and is making all of us safe.

Sweet Mother Mary in leotards, where has Ms. Fennig been the last 10 years?

Maybe she hasn’t noticed, but America has been healing itself pretty well since the last year of the “Dubya Fiasco.”

Ms. Fennig then states the Obama administration sowed so much distrust and racism she is afraid for all of us if it continues. Brace yourself, Ms. Fennig, what you wrongly perceive of the past administration will be the bellwether of the present.

Ms. Fennig rightfully states there will be no longer a free, democratic country unless we get back to “of the people, for the people.”

Herein lies the problem. With this administration, it’s “of the party, by the party, for the party.”

Be aware, Ms. Fennig, Donald J. Trump is an egomaniac who has only a passing acquaintance with the truth, is a proven racist and a scam artist who is one knee jerk away from instigating a nuclear conflagration. In one short year, he has antagonized every ally we have. So much for keeping us safe.

Ms. Fennig, I do not think you are a “deranged” Trump follower. I do, however, question your source of information.

But I totally agree with everything you stated about when someone in government — either party — does something wrong. I want them to come to justice. Right on.

As for The Donald, he probably cheats at golf, too.

Respectfully,

Larry Chittum
