A Geneva man was involved in an accident involving horses Saturday morning.

Kristopher L. Scherrer, 65, was traveling east on county road 800 North, east of county road 250 East, when he noticed two horses pulling a trailer without a driver. He picked up the owner of the horses, Jake M. Eicher, Bryant, and drove around the horses that were pulling the trailer, stopping in front of them in an effort to get them to come to a stop. The horses then ran into the back of Scherrer’s 2004 Chevrolet.

Eicher told police the horses were pulling a trailer east on county road 800 North when a strap broke and the driver jumped off of the trailer.

Two Portland women were involved in an accident Saturday evening.

Kaitlin M. Ford, 18, was stopped facing east at the intersection of Arch and Meridian streets in Portland. She saw Faith A. Lowrance, 50, traveling south with her right turn signal on, while slowing down.

Ford told police that she believed Lowrance was going to turn west on Arch Street, so she began to pull out into the intersection. Ford’s 2004 Ford Mustang registered to Francis D. and Terri Ford was then struck by Lowrance’s 2000 Pontiac Grand AM GT.

Damage in the 5:09 p.m. accident was estimated at $2,500 to $5,000.
