Thank you for supporting Jay 4-H

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Last Friday, the Jay County 4-H swine committee sponsored the inaugural Jay County Swine Spectacular, which is an open swine show in conjunction with the Indiana Junior Swine Circuit.

There were 232 entries from all over the state of Indiana as well as some from Ohio and even Florida.

It took lots of financial sponsors to put this show on and we would like to take this time to say thank you to them.

Our banner sponsor was ADE/Moorman’s Show Tec.

Platinum sponsors were: Farmweld, Homestead Quality Bedding, Valentine Feed & Supply, Matthews Feed and Grain and A1 Ag Services.

Gold sponsors were: Jack’s and Associates, Dr. Logue DVM, Chenoweth Family Swine, Fisher Meats, Towell Family Showpigs, Dr. Bales DVM, Mel Smitley’s Real Estate and Auction and Johnson Family Farms.

Silver sponsors were: Century 21/Jerod Clark, Jay County FFA, Taylor Construction & Excavating, Upperkut Salon, Holdcroft Showpigs, Shaffer’s Gold Rush, Cooper Farms and Powet.

Bronze sponsors were: WPGW Radio, Zell Showpigs, Anderson-Twigg Showpigs, Lehman’s Feed Mill and Pennville Feed Mill.

Also thanks goes out to many people who helped out along the way with check in, ring help, data entry and concessions, as well as Jacob Chenoweth, show manager, and Chad Towell, co-manager.

One last huge thank you goes to The Portland Foundation and the Friends of Agriculture for a $2,000 matching grant to help purchase our new scales, which were used the first time at the show.

With the support of all these people and businesses, we are striving to continue “to make the best better” in 4-H in Jay County.

Thanks again to everyone who supports us.

Beth Stephen
