Money moved
Fort Recovery School Board this morning made a couple of financial moves.
Board members Mitch Ervin, Mike Grube, Jose Faller, Greg LeFevre and Nick Wehrkamp, modified appropriations for fiscal 2018, which ends Saturday, to correct an error made early in the year. Two grant amounts had been transposed and were corrected to $197,544.32 for Title VIB and $8,037.87 for Early Childhood Special Education.
The board approved a increase in the temporary appropriations for 2019, putting the public school preschool fund at $5,396.21.
Deer struck
A Redkey woman hit a deer with the car she was driving Wednesday morning.
Linda A. Brackman, 56, was driving southwest on Indiana 67 near its intersection with county road 1150 West when a deer ran out into the roadway.
She told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was unable to avoid striking it with the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze she was driving.
The Cruze is registered to Gladys A. Selvey, Redkey.
Damage in the 7:45 a.m. collision is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Turning collision
Two Jay County residents were involved in a vehicle collision Wednesday morning.
Jonathan M. Grieshop, 37, Portland, was driving a 2001 Freightliner semi truck west on Indiana 26 and began to turn north onto county road 200 West.
As he was turning, the semi struck the front end of the 2003 Buick LLF driven by Logan A. Duran, 16, Bryant. Duran was traveling south on county road 200 West and was stopped at its intersection with Indiana 26.
The Buick that Duran was driving is registered to Nava A. Duran, Bryant. The semi is registered to B and B Farms of Bryant.
Damage in the 8:20 a.m. accident is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
