OWI, perjury, battery
A Bryant man pleaded guilty to two felony charges and a misdemeanor charge in Jay Superior Court.
Dustin R. Reed, 29, 118 W. Main St., pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor. He was sentenced to serve 60 days in Jay County Jail and given two days credit for one day already served. He was assessed court costs of $185.50 and ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.
Reed was charged with and pleaded guilty to perjury, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 120 days suspended, to be served consecutively to the previous OWI charge, and was given 14 days credit for seven days served. He was assessed court costs of $185 and placed on formal probation for eight months. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of invasion of privacy was dismissed.
Finally, Reed pleaded guilty to domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County jail with all but 90 days suspended, to be served consecutively to the sentences for the two previous charges, and was given 10 days credit for five days already served. He was ordered to pay a domestic violence prevention and treatment fee of $50, assessed court costs of $185 and was placed on formal probation for nine months.
Endangering, neglect
A Portland man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to endangering and neglecting a dependent.
Isaiah J. Patton, 32, 811 E. North St., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated endangering a person with a passenger less than 18 years old and neglect of a dependent, both Level 6 felonies. As part of a plea agreement, an additional charge of neglect of a dependent was dismissed.
For the OWI charge, he was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with all but 220 days suspended and given 220 days credit for 110 days served. He was assessed court costs of $185.50 and ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200.
For the neglect charge, Patton was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 220 days suspended and given 220 days credit for 110 days served. Court costs of $185 were waived, and the court recommended to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles that his license be suspended for 100 days.
Possession
A Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony.
Andrew D. Fisher, 26, 315 E. Center St., was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 120 days suspended and given 112 days credit for time already served. He was assessed court costs of $185, ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse prevention fee of $400 and placed on formal probation for eight months.
Probation violation
A Portland woman was found in violation of her probation in Jay Superior Court.
Chanelle R. Gierhart, 26, 6769 W. 400 South, was found in violation of her probation originally imposed for the charge of unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to serve an additional 98 days of the 18-month sentence originally imposed, and was given 98 days credit for 49 days already served. Her probation was terminated unsuccessfully.
Resisting
A Portland man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony.
Jordan M. Lemaster, 23, 640 E. Floral Ave., was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with 180 days suspended and given 180 days credit for 90 days already served. He was assessed court costs of $185 and placed on formal probation for six months. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of driving while suspended was dismissed.
