Four local athletes were given a statewide honor Tuesday.
Three members of the Jay County High School boys basketball team and one South Adams girls basketball player were named Academic All-State honorable mention by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, the IBCA announced in a release.
Jay County seniors Holton Hill, Max Moser and Cole Stigleman, and Starfire senior Calyssa Lehman all capped their hardwood careers with the honor.
Hill averaged 3.3 points per game for the Patriots, who won the Allen County Athletic Conference regular season title and finished 14-10. Hill also had 1.3 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game as guard. Stigleman, who finished his career 33rd all-time in career scoring for JCHS with 500 points, was second on the team with 9.4 points per game, grabbed 3.2 rebounds per game and dished 2.2 assists per game. Moser notched 3.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
Lehman averaged 3.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the Starfires (15-9), who upset Jay County for the ACAC tournament title in mid-January.
