Help banish drugs from community

Letters to the Editor

To the editor

We all know St. Patrick as the man who banished snakes from the green fields of Ireland.

What is the connection between St. Patrick and the Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition?

The Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition is trying to banish drugs from our community. One way the drug coalition fights the battle against drugs is through education.

On March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day), A Better Life – Brianna’s Hope is hosting an event in the Jay County High School auxiliary gym. The event “Connecting the Links” is an effort to connect our community residents with the resources need to banish the drug problem. You can visit vendor booths of local organizations to hear what they have to offer, what they can do for you or how to become involved.

Guest speakers will be at the event who are willing to share their life experience in relation to addiction and what they have done to banish drugs from their lives. Listening to the speakers will open your eyes and your hearts to the issues facing our community and the ones we love.

This is a family event. There will be food available for purchase and carnival games to keep the kids busy while you visit the vendor booths.

Please join A Better Life – Brianna’s Hope in its efforts to promote a drug free community.

Help banish drugs from our community. Contact the Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition (housed at Portland Police Department) at (260) 726-7161.

Together we can banish drugs.
