NRA does not lie to support position

Letters to the editor

To the editor:

I feel sad that the national hate gun organizations have spent millions organizing students and teachers into “useful idiots” marching for gun control based in a large degree on the lies they tell about the issue.

I sincerely believe that most don’t have a clue about the truth on many of the gun control issues.

That said, I have again been cautioned by Michael Kinser that my letters pointing out lies by the gun haters that “my letter to the editor is illustrative of the intractable resistance to resolution  of the debate over gun violence.” I am not sure how telling the truth represents resistance to resolution of any debate. I would think that it is lies that prevent a reasonable resolution to any debate.

And while he tells me not to call
lies lies he says “there is an abundance of prevarication employed by  both sides.” In effect he has accused the pro-gun voice in America, the NRA, of lying.

I have been a member of the NRA for 45 years. In all that time I have sometimes disagreed with the NRA’s positions on issues, but I have never seen the NRA support a position or try to sell that position with a lie.

I have provided a long but far from all inclusive list of anti-gun lies.
