One injured
A Daleville woman was injured when she rolled her SUV after losing control of the vehicle on Industrial Park Drive Saturday afternoon.
Alexis L. Petty, 20, told Portland Police Department she was westbound about 2:50 p.m. when she struck the curb with her 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. She then overcorrected and went into the eastbound lane, facing oncoming traffic. Then she overcorrected again to the right and rolled the SUV several times.
She suffered injuries to her elbow and lower arm and was taken to IU Health Jay for treatment.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Hits a pole
A car driven by a Dunkirk man went off county road 400 South about 10:30 p.m. Friday and struck a fence pole.
Ethan J. Foudray, 20, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was eastbound in his 2006 Dodge and was using his phone to text while driving. His car left the roadway near road 800 west and traveled about 75 to 100 yards before hitting a fence owned by Rodney Weesner.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000. He was cited with texting while driving.
Strikes curb
A van driven by a Portland woman sustained damage estimated between $1,000 and $2,500 when it struck a curb at Western Avenue and Blaine Pike about 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Debbie L. Skaggs, 56, told Portland Police Department she first thought she had struck an animal as she made the turn from Blaine Pike onto Western Avenue.
City collision
Damage estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 was reported in a two-car accident shortly before 2 p.m. Friday at Wayne and Walnut streets in Portland.
David E. Fernandez, 21, Davenport, Florida, told Portland Police Department he was eastbound on Walnut Street and had stopped at the intersection, but he then proceeded east and collided with a northbound pick-up truck driven by Koren Sawyer, 36, rural Portland.
Hit while parked
Marc A. Bogenschutz, rural Portland, reported to Portland Police Department that his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was struck in the right rear side by an unknown vehicle while it was parked in the alley behind Pit’s Lounge about 4 p.m. Friday.
Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
