Patriots, Falcons to meet again
Jay County and Winchester to face off for fifth consecutive year
The Patriots will get another chance at redemption.
The Falcons will be looking to make it three titles in a row.
Jay County High School’s girls tennis team swept the Union City Indians 5-0 on Thursday in the sectional semifinal it hosted.
Winchester?Community High School defeated Randolph Southern by the same margin to reach tonight’s final.
It will be the fifth consecutive season Jay County and Winchester have met in the sectional title. The Golden Falcons have won each of the last two by a 5-0 score, while the Patriots won 3-2 in both 2014 and 2015.
At No. 2 doubles, Emily Reier and Betsy Muhlenkamp beat Ashley Cline and Maria Casillas-Romero 6-0, 6-1. In their No. 1 doubles match,?cousins Audrey and Kayla Dirksen earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Audrey Sullenbarger and Sydney Ralson.
Shelby McClain, the Patriots’ No. 1 singles player, picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Morgan Wymer.
Junior Klarissa Hemmelgarn knocked off Emily Cline 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and?Jay County senior Katy Hamilton didn’t lose a set in depositing Aliya Zimmers 6-0, 6-0.
