Capsule Reports

Walmart collision 

A Fort Recovery woman was involved in a vehicle collision Saturday in the Walmart parking lot. 

Lana M. Bias, 69, was driving her 2001 Honda Civic north in the parking lot at 950 W. Votaw St., Portland. She told Portland Police Department another driver was leaving a parking space and failed to yield to Bias, striking the front of her car. The driver told Bias she had to go home and get her insurance card, but did not come back. 

Damage in the 2:04 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500. 



Theft

A Portland man reported a break-in Sunday. 

William Herriford, who lives in the west 200 block of Lincoln Avenue, told Portland Police Department he had left his home at 3 p.m. Sunday and when he returned around 6 p.m. the front door was open. There was a box of papers spilled inside but nothing was reported stolen. 



Fire

Pennville Fire Department responded to a fire Friday evening. 

At 7:44 p.m., the department received a report of a tractor on fire near the intersection of Indiana 1 and county road 150 North. There was no owner listed on the report. 



Theft

A Bryant man reported a theft Friday. 

Jamie Canterbury, who lives in the east 200 block of Main Street, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office a bow and arrow was stolen from his pickup truck.
