Redkey Town Council will have two new members in 2019.
Challengers Randy J. May, a Republican, and Terri D. Taylor, a Democrat, knocked off the pair of incumbents seeking re-election Tuesday.
May dominated the four-way race in which the top two vote-getters earned at-large seats on council. He earned 205 votes (39 percent) to win the balloting by an 84-vote margin.
In what was the only remotely close race of the evening in Jay County, Taylor narrowly edged fellow Democrat Charles “Red” Coons for the runner-up spot. The former town council member picked up 121 votes (23 percent) compared to Coons’ 108 (20.6 percent).
Mike Wright, an independent who like Coons was seeking a second term, finished last in the voting with 91.
Coons and Wright had finished first and second in a five-candidate field in 2014.
