WESTFIELD — For the second straight week, the Patriots were near the top of the standings.
Jay County High School’s girls swim team got one race victory as it finished third on Saturday in the Westfield Invitational.
Final team point totals were not provided.
Eliza Bader, Vivienne Kunkler, Lilli Clemmons and Ashlyn Dow swam to a time of 1 minute, 47.55 seconds, to win the 200-yard freestyle relay, edging the quartet from Yorktown by less than a second.
Bader also had a pair of runner-up finishes as she was second in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke events.
Kunkler was second in the 100 breaststroke, as she was runner-up to three-time state champion Emily Weiss of Yorktown. Kunkler also placed eighth in the 200 individual medley.
Erica Hathaway was second and fourth respectively in the 200 and 500 freestyle races, and Dow placed sixth in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
Clemmons finished seventh in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 backstroke, and Rieley Brewster was seventh in the 100 butterfly.
Jay County’s medley relay team of Bader, Kunkler, Brewster and Dow placed third.
