Assisting, resisting
A Portland man pleaded guilty to two charges in Jay Superior Court.
Eric L. Phillips, 39, 943 W. High St., pleaded guilty to assisting a criminal, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year and given 142 days credit for time served. He was assessed court costs of $185.
In a separate case, he pleaded guilty to resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 200 days in Jay County Jail, to be served consecutively to the prior charge. He was assessed court costs of $185.
In separate cases, a charge of driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and a charge unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, were dismissed.
Probation violation
A Union City man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court to additional jail time for violating his probation.
Jared T. Fennig, 23, 8253 E. 800 South, was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 210 days of the sentence originally imposed Jan. 17, 2017, and was given 142 days credit for 71 days served. His probation was terminated unsuccessfully.
Possession
A Portland woman was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for a drug possession charge.
Danielle D. Moser, 20, 112 W. Third St., pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with all but 134 days suspended and given 134 days credit for 67 days served. She was assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for seven months and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $20 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. Charges of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, were dismissed.
Trial scheduled
A trial has been scheduled in Jay Circuit Court for a Portland man accused of dealing drugs.
Anthony Vetor, 25, 112 W. Third St., is facing charges of dealing in marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Level 5 felonies, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of methamphetamine, Level 6 felonies, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor. His two-day jury trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 20.
Probation violation
A man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court to additional jail time for violating his probation.
Derick A. Fields, 23, whose last known address was in New Castle, was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of theft, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 120 days of the sentence originally imposed on Dec. 12 and was given credit for time served since July 26. His probation was terminated unsuccessfully.
