Last week vs. Thurgood Marshall (Dayton,?Ohio): Three turnovers, including two in the red zone, and shaky defense resulted in a 29-14 loss to the Cougars. 

Season leaders: Passing — Parker Grimes – 75-of-127 for 1,322 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions. Rushing — Michael Schlechty – 82 carries for 532 yards and seven touchdowns. Receiving — Ryan Schlechty – 18 catches for 417 yards and six touchdowns.

Last week vs. Southern Wells: A 21-point first quarter carried over into a 52-17 victory, the team’s first ACAC win of the year.

Season leaders: Passing — Parker Tracey – 58-of-153 for 638 yards, two touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rushing — Hunter Bradtmueller – 103 carries for 761 yards and 10 touchdowns. Receiving — Travis Gardner – 14 catches for 272 yards and one touchdown.

Last season: Jay County senior Cole Stigleman had a career-high 225 rushing yards and scored the game-sealing touchdown in a 34-20 victory, which snapped a five-game losing streak. It gave JC the Patriot Trophy in the trophy’s inaugural game.

Game notes: This is the ninth meeting between Jay County and Heritage. Jay County is 3-5 in the series, but has won each of the last two years ...  Jay County opens Class 4A sectional play Oct. 19 at home against the Leo Lions. Heritage travels to Bishop Luers in Class 2A action.
