Head-on collision
Two women were injured in a vehicle collision Tuesday night.
Callie J. Hough, 22, Redkey, was driving her 1999 Pontiac Grand Am southwest on Indiana 67 near its intersection with county road 400 South. According to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, she drove over the center line of the road and struck Tracy N. Compton’s car. Compton, 39, Albany, was driving her 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer northeast on Indiana 67.
Both women sustained incapacitating injuries in the crash and were transported from the scene for medical treatment.
Damage in the 9:39 p.m. collision is estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
Burglary
A Portland man reported a theft from his rental property Tuesday evening.
Jeffery D. Upp, who owns a rental property in the south 1000 block of Massachusetts Avenue, told Portland Police Department someone had broken into the garage on the property. Missing were tools and other items, altogether valued at $235. The theft occurred sometime between Friday and Tuesday.
Deer struck
A Portland man struck a deer with his SUV Tuesday evening.
Michael W. Bubp, 52, was driving west on county road 300 North near its intersection with county road 300 West. A deer ran out into the road and he was unable to avoid hitting it with his 2004 Ford Explorer.
Damage in the 7:24 p.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Theft
A Portland man reported a bike theft Tuesday afternoon.
Brett Grayson, who lives at Maple Heights Apartments, told Portland Police Department someone stole his bike from a bike rack between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday. It was a light green and black Huffy bicycle valued at $100.
