Last week at Bluffton: Jay County had its potential game-winning 2-point conversion fall just short of the goal line in a 63-62 shootout loss to the host Tigers. Parker Grimes threw for 353 yards and six touchdowns, three of which were to Ryan Schlechty, who had 189 receiving yards and a pick-six. Bluffton’s Everett Johnson had 294 yards and five touchdowns on 38 carries.
Season leaders: Passing — Parker Grimes – 40-of-68 for 868 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. Rushing — Michael Schlechty – 51 carries for 344 yards and six touchdowns. Receiving — Ryan Schlechty – 16 catches for 379 yards and five touchdowns. Defense — R. Schlechty – 48 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions.

Woodlan Warriors
Woodburn, 3-2 (3-0)

Conference: Allen County
Last week vs. Southern Wells: Woodlan racked up nearly 450 yards of total offense, including 248 through the air, in a 49-0 drubbing of Southern Wells. Ben Reidy was 17-of-22 through the air with five touchdowns, and Seb Spieth contributed 133 yards rushing on 11 carries for the Warriors. Trevor Wallace had seven catches for 131 yards and two scores.
Season leaders: Passing — Ben Reidy – 42-of-73 passing for 512 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Rushing — Reggie Blackmon – 56 carries for 422 yards and two touchdowns. Receiving — Jack Stuckey – 23 catches for 278 yards and three touchdowns. Defense — Isaac Meyer – 55 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and two sacks.
Last season: Jay County had no answer for Woodlan in any of the game’s three phases in a 47-6 defeat in Woodburn. Warrior quarterback Justin?Durkes threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while running for another, and Jack Rhoades finished with 152 yards on the ground. Jay County’s only score was a 26-yard TD pass from Holton Hill to Michael Schlechty in the third quarter, but by then it was already 26-0.
Game notes: This is the fifth meeting all time between Jay County and Woodlan. The Patriots have yet to beat the Warriors, and have been outscored 142-20 ... Woodlan lost its first two games of the season, 6-0 to Leo and 42-0 to perennial Ohio powerhouse Marion Local.?Since then, the Warriors have beaten up on Heritage (33-14), Bluffton (49-21)?and Southern Wells ... Woodlan, which is coming off a season during which it lost by one point in the state championship game, finished 13th in the most recent Associated Press Class 2A poll ... John Harrell’s website predicts Woodlan to win, 38-24. Calpreps.com has Woodlan winning 31-17.
