Possession, violation
A Hartford City man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for a drug paraphernalia charge and for violating his probation.
Michael T. Gannon Jr., 26, 515 S. Cherry St., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with all but 90 days suspended and given 90 days credit for 45 days served. He was assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for nine months and ordered to pay a substance abuse program fee of $400.
In a separate case, Gannon was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of theft, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 116 days of the sentence imposed on Nov. 28, 2017, and was given 116 days credit for 58 days served. His probation was terminated unsuccessfully.
Trials scheduled
Two Portland residents had trials scheduled recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Jeffery A. Roser, 40, 520 E. North St., is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, and driving while suspended, a Class A infraction. His two-day jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 23.
Dawn D. Golder, 47, 618 S. Vine St., is charged with dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; dealing a narcotic drug, a Level 3 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Her two-day jury trial is set to begin Oct. 28.

A Portland man pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge in Jay Superior Court.
Anthony J. Pritchard, 42, 1213 Wayside Place, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year and was given one year credit for six months served.
He was assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay a substance abuse program fee of $400 and a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200.
As part of a plea agreement, charges of possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, all Class A misdemeanors, were dismissed.
In a separate case, a charge of driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, was dismissed.
Petition denied
A Portland man’s petition to modify his sentence was denied in Jay Circuit Court.
Brandon C. Kauffman, 27, 106 Mangold Drive, asked the court to modify his sentence of two years on electronically monitored home detention. Kauffman was sentenced on April 2, 2018, after pleading guilty to burglary, a Level 4 felony. The court denied his petition.
