DECATUR — Cameron Clark and Tony Wood combined to cross the finish line in first.
It helped the Chiefs place third as a team.
East Jay Middle School’s boys cross country team finished third Thursday in the Bellmont Conditioner, a 2-mile relay made up of two-runner teams.
Norwell scored 17 points to win the team title, edging Adams Central by one point. East Jay finished with 28 points for third out of eight teams.
A tightly contested girls race had Adams Central come out on top with 22 points. Riverview was the runner-up with 23 points, and Norwell tallied 24 points for third. The Chiefs scored 27 points for fourth.
Jacob Monroe and Creed Beiswanger were 13th, while the duo of Gabe Pinkerton and Carson Davis were 18th. Max Klopfenstein and William Hawbaker placed 35th, and Michael Grile and Zander Hudson ended 39th.
Natalie Carreno and Ayla Grabner teamed to finish fifth in leading the EJMS girls.
Alexis Sibray and Paityn Wendel ended ninth as Emily Manor and Mallory Winner placed 14th. Azalea Smith and Dakota Chowning ended 29th, and the tandem of Lauren Fisher and Audrey Millspaugh placed 33rd.
