Carey Cook’s stint leading Jay County Chamber of Commerce is over after less than five months.
“He’s no longer with the chamber,” Scott Manwaring, president of the chamber’s board, said this morning.
Manwaring added that he could not comment further on Cook’s departure.
Cook was let go from the position following the board’s meeting Thursday.
A Muncie resident, Cook was hired as the chamber’s new executive director on Aug. 6. He had spent the last five years as owner of Cook Media Group.
He took over for Dean Sanders, who had resigned at the end of June after six years with the chamber.
Manwaring said no plans are in place yet for the search for a new executive director for the chamber, but that he expects the board to address the issue quickly.
During the chamber board’s meeting Thursday, Manwaring was elected president for 2020. Adam Homan and Stacie Paxson were elected vice president and secretary, respectively.
