MONROE — The Patriot girls have three wins in a row again.

The boys are still looking for their first victory.

Jay County High School’s girls swim team cruised to a 123-55 victory Monday over the host Adams Central Jets. 

The boys stayed close, but suffered an 82-74 defeat.

Freshman Mara Bader was the lone double winner of the evening for the JCHS girls. She led a one-two finish with a time of 2 minutes, 30.59 seconds, in the 200-yard individual medley with Lilli Clemmons second and also took the top spot in the 100 freestyle in 59.08.

Eliza Bader led a one-two-three finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.41 with Clemmons second and Rieley Brewster third, and Kearsten Myers topped a one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:30.29 with Grace Lavy as the runner-up.

Ashlyn Dow paced an uncontested sweep of the 500 freestyle as she finished in 6:07.28 ahead of teammates Raine Keen and Lavy.

Also picking up an individual win for the Patriots on Monday was Erica Hathaway in the 50 freestyle in 27.81. 

Clemmons and Brewster teamed with Dow and Eliza Bader for first in the 200 medley relay in 2:06.54 and joined Hathaway and Mara Bader to win the 400 freestyle relay in 4:14.52. The Bader sisters, Hathaway and Dow claimed victory in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:49.7.

The strongest event for the Jay County boys was the 100 breaststroke, with Griffin Mann winning in 1:10.38 ahead of teammates Ralph Link in second and Nico Minnich in third. Chase McFarland took the top spot in the 500 freestyle in 5:51.17.

The Patriots have a two-week break before returning to Adams County on Jan. 7 to take on Bellmont.
