2019 – The year in photos

For decades, The Commercial Review has shared a recap of its top 10 stories of the year on December 31. This year, we’re adding the top 10 photos.

This new feature is designed not to highlight the most important, impactful or influential events of 2019, but rather to give readers a glimpse of what the year was like through what we consider to be our best photos of the year. They range from moments of athletic elation to times of trouble in the form of flooding and fire.

Our top photo of the year is this one, featuring Jay County High School freshman Izzy Rodgers, senior Hanna Dillon (22) and assistant coach Sherri McIntire celebrating a go-ahead 3-pointer by Hannah Phillips during the waning moments of the fourth quarter in the Allen County Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal Jan. 11 at JCHS. The Patriots went on to win in overtime, 65-58, advancing to the tournament final for the fifth consecutive season. The photo went on to take first place for Best Sports Feature Photo in the Hoosier State Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.
